Next.js Portfolio
Project Overview
- Role(s): Programmer
- Team Size: Solo Dev
- Status: Released
🧠 Technical Contributions
I expanded and customized a free portfolio template into a modern, responsive website built with Next.js App Router, React, TypeScript, MDX, and TailwindCSS. It presents professional game development work through interactive project discovery, rich narratives, and a consistent visual identity.
Localized content, language-aware navigation, and international SEO make the portfolio accessible across languages. Its content architecture is designed to accommodate additional locales while keeping project facts and presentation consistent.
🛠️ What I Built
Project Discovery: Built category filters, prioritized ordering, and pagination to help visitors find relevant work quickly.
Interactive Project Cards: Added responsive cards with hover-based video previews and project-specific image and video galleries with modal interactions.
Maintainable Project Content: Organized shared project facts, localized editorial content, and MDX narratives separately, making updates clearer and avoiding duplicated information.
Next.js App Router Architecture: Separated content loading from interactive presentation with React and TypeScript, using the App Router for stable project URLs and statically rendered detail pages.
Responsive Design and Themes: Used Tailwind CSS for consistent responsive layouts and theme controls that retain visitor preferences.
Contact Options: Integrated a contact form with input validation and localized feedback, alongside direct email and social links.
SEO and Social Sharing: Created page-specific metadata, canonical URLs, language alternates, and a sitemap, with consistent Open Graph and Twitter sharing information.
Multilingual Architecture: Integrated next-intl for localized interface labels, project content, and language-aware navigation, with a structure that supports adding further locales.
🤝 How I Contributed
- Independently extended and customized a template to reflect my professional identity and showcase my work.
- Designed a maintainable content architecture with a clear separation between project facts, editorial narratives, presentation, and application logic.
- Connected interactive browsing, localized content delivery, and SEO into a cohesive portfolio experience.
🧩 Challenges & Solutions
🌍 Challenge: Consistent Multilingual Content
Project facts and public links need to stay consistent while editorial text and interface labels vary by language.
✔ Solution: Separated shared facts from localized narratives and labels, allowing content to evolve without duplicating project data or changing established URLs.
🛠️ Challenge: Rich Content and Interactive Presentation
Project narratives need flexible formatting, while galleries and browsing controls require responsive interactions.
✔ Solution: Rendered MDX through reusable server-side content boundaries and kept interactive presentation in focused client components.
